Taketest installation and use instructions.
The purpose of the program:
This program allows the instructor to give tests by using a
computer instead of the traditional paper and pencil method. Each
time a test is taken the questions are given in a different order.
The results are stored either on a hard drive or floppy disk and
can be printed out at later time. The computer grades the test.
Tests are created using the program Maketest which comes with the
registered copy of Taketest. A sample test called ATOM.TST is
included with the unregistered copy of the program. Maketest can
import questions from tests previously made on another word processor.
See register.doc for more information.
Installing taketest on you hard drive:
To install taketest on your hard drive type and enter the word
install at the dos prompt when you are in the directory where the
taketest files are contained. A directory called c:\taketest will be
created and all files will be transferred to that directory. As
an alternative use the dos copy command to copy all files to a
directory of your choice.
To show the taketest icon on Program Manager in Windows select
the program group you want to contain the icon. Select New from
the File menu of Program Manager. Program item should be chosen.
The name of the program is Taketest and the command line is
c:\taketest\taketest.exe. Double click on the icon to start the program.
Advantages of registering:
When you register (see register.doc) you will receive a registered
version of taketest and a registered version of the program Maketest.
Maketest is the program that is used to develop the tests used in taketest.
Test questions can be imported with maketest from files created on another
word processor by saving the file as a text file and then using maketest.
Registration costs $10 + $2 shipping and handling if a disk is sent by the
mail. The program can also be sent via e-mail if your e-mail program
supports attachments or by FTP. There is no shipping fee for copies obtained
by e-mail or FTP.This fee entitles you to a site license for the program.
Using Taketest:
Test Menu

from a test taken previously. To exit the program select exit or
press Alt-x.
Check Answers Item
This item will cycle through all of the questions on the test so the
student can check his/her answers.
Start form Test Menu
This menu item will allow the user to choose a test from a
list of tests in a file dialog box. One test can be taken during
each test session. Enter student information into the dialog box.
The last name and first name are required, other entries are
optional. To take another test exit the program and start it
again. The test is presented and the answer entered into the
answer box. Press Enter or click on the OK button when completed
with the question. After all of the questions are completed the
user is asked for the disk on which the results are to be stored.
Choose the appropriate disk. It is suggested that the results
either be printed right away or stored on a floppy disk and printed
later. If a floppy disk is used each student should have their own
disk.

test taken. Choose the drive where the results are stored. The
students name, date, test title, and the number of questions
